All end to end the message is less readable

The Socialists would not now oppose the Assembly to the vote on the plan for the banks announced by Nicolas Sarkozy. "Need urgent action, it is clear," said yesterday the leader of the PS deputies, Jean-Marc Ayrault. A discussion must still take place this morning at a meeting of group, but the failure seems to be the most likely option. Yesterday, François Hollande told "not" wanting to vote against the plan while demanding "counterparties" on the part of banks and stimulus of the economy. And the national Secretary of the economy, Michel Sapin, was thus the position of his party: "As we are a responsible opposition, we will not vote against, and as it is insufficient at the economic level, we will vote for."

A kind of "or or" symptomatic of difficult balance that the Socialists are seeking in their comments on the financial crisis: how its role of opponent without falling into the systematization How to appear "responsible" without appearing to align Executive

Preparation of the Congress

Last week, both Martine Aubry of François Hollande and Ségolène Royal, each with their words, approved the emergency measures taken by the Executive. Then all three were immediately ensured to assert their differences. Ségolène Royal in the hope that "this crisis will be healed Nicolas Sarkozy and his admiration for the mortgages and retirement by capitalization." Francois Holland and Martine Aubry lambasting the "fiscal package" and asking, in the context of the budget debate next week, that the PLF 2009 include measures for power purchase and investment by SMEs and local authorities.

Linking support to the rescue of the banking system and opposition to the economic policy of the Government is already some time to explain. But the Socialist message was still complicated by the preparation of the Congress of November. To differentiate himself from Bertrand Delanoë and embody a kind of "responsible left for anchor", Martine Aubry repeats that must be "profoundly change the system" and inventing a new "economic model". Considering having the wind in its sails, the left side of the PS led by Benoit Hamon seeks the establishment of a banking public pole and the revision of the Maastricht criteria: two proposals that other tenors of the PS does not resume but keep challenge explicitly.

Still less readable message

Even François Hollande who, two weeks ago, was the lesson to the Government on the non-compliance with the stability pact, only to see yesterday that "all the criteria" would be "overwhelmed". Because the situation is changing quickly and because the first Secretary of the PS does not want to leave to crystallize a debate on this subject in the party.

All end to end, the message is less readable. Yesterday, the Philippe Martin fabiusien was the first to publicly express his discomfort. To be taken to the head of State and the "economic liberal system which does nothing when it works, and which eats the taxpayers money when things go wrong!", he launched a warning to his comrades: "I have a little enough of this national unity which does not say his name, and in which Nicolas Sarkozy has gradually trained us."", and then anesthetized. The same expecting however "abstention" of his group today.
